Dogpile.com - 検索エンジン比較

Dogpile.comDogpile.comは有名どころの検索エンジンの結果を統合して表示してくれます。ちなみに有名どころというのは、Yahoo! 、Google、MSN Search、ASK Jeevesの４つを指します。ちなみに、Dogpile.comは日本語には対応していません。

　で、このDogpile.comが、これら4つの検索エンジンについて調査・比較を行ったそうな。その内容というのが・・・

大手検索エンジン、検索結果に目立つばらつき

ある検索エンジンが最初のページに表示する検索結果が、他の検索エンジンの同ページに全く出てこない割合を見ると、Google は最も低い66.4％で、次いで MSN が70.8％、Yahoo! が71.2％、AskJeeves が73.9％という結果となった。
　また、広告連動型でない検索結果の最上位のみを調べたところ、1件の検索で大手4社の結果が一致する割合はわずか7％だった。検索結果を上位5位までに広げると、一致する割合はさらに下がり、大手4社の結果が1つも一致しなかった割合は19.2％にのぼった。

　この調査結果って、一言で言ってしまうと、「それぞれの検索エンジンの特徴は同じでは無いです。」って事？

　もちろん、検索エンジンへのインプットは人間が行うもの。その検索ワードにどんな思いをもって、その単語を入力しているか？の違いはあると思うんだけど。つまり、検索ワードにはある程度、その人によって、あいまいさがあるということ。そのあいまいさ度合いが結果考慮されて、その人が望む情報がもっとも含まれるサイト（ページ）が検索結果の上位に表示されればOKだとしたら、その人が演出してしまう（？）「あいまいさ」の特性にもっとも合った検索エンジンを選べばよい。もしくは選んでいたらより幸せだ。もっと言えば、経験的に自分に合う検索エンジンを探してください、と思ってしまいます。

　という事で話を戻すと、この調査ってのは何のためにやったのだろうか？と思ってしまいます。。。
