ボーダフォンがMVNO

　最近絶不調のボーダフォン、ここのところ半年あまり月間での契約者増減が純減という結果になっていました。今年になって音声通話の定額制を発表したPHSのWILLCOMにも負けている。。

　さて、そのボーダフォンが反撃の狼煙を上げるのか？

メッセージングを重視、MVNOも視野に──ボーダフォン

ネットワーク戦略として挙げたのが「ホールセール、MVNOへの進出」「マルチアクセス技術」「FMC（Fixed-Mobile Convergence、固定と移動との融合）」の3つだ。

　本当ですか？本当にMVNOするんですか？

　あ、MVNOとはMobile Virtual Network Operatorの略で、つまり基地局とかインフラとかの設備を持たない携帯電話事業者のことです。ユーザ側からみれば気づかないでしょう。ADSLのACCAが良い例かな。もう少し古いたとえで行くと、ダイヤルアップの時代にISP同士で同じアクセスポイントの電話番号を持つところがあったんだけど、あれはとある米国のISPがそれを卸売り（ホールセール）してたんですね。

　eAccessの場合、@NiftyとかSONETとか発表あったけど。ボーダフォンはどこと組むのだろう。ちなみに、イギリスではバージンレコードがMVNOで携帯電話サービスを展開しています。
