アメリカのオンライン新聞

　メディア系（もう少し言うと情報系）のコンシューマ市場で、唯一お金が取れているのってアメリカのオンライン新聞だなぁ・・・。なんて思っていました。でも、疑問だったのが、「いったいどれくらいの人がオンラインの有料新聞を読んでいるのか？」でした。

　ITメディアによれば・・・

米国の新聞読者、オンライン派は2割

最近1週間の行動を対象にしたこの調査によれば、新聞を読んでいるWebユーザーのうち21％が、メインで読む新聞をオンライン版に移している。一方、72％の利用者は、現在でも紙の新聞をメインで読んでいるという。どちらでもないとの回答は7％だった。

　へぇ～。新聞読者の約2割りか。日本でも実は近い数字では無いかなぁ・・・。と思っています。違いは、日本の新聞社はWEB上ではほぼ無料です。ほとんどのケースはそのWEBサイト上での広告収入が主なWEBでの収入源かな。という感じがします。（それか無いか、あきらめているか・・）

　ちなみにその訪問者数は、

オンライン版のビジター数（2005年5月）ではトップがNYTimes.comの1130万。続いてUSAToday.comが920万、WashingtonPost.comが740万、LATimes.comが380万、San Francisco Chronicleが340万となっている。

　以前何かの記事で見たけど、ヤフー！ニュースはだいたい月間1000万超の訪問者数。朝日とかで300-400万の訪問者数だったと記憶しています。（ページビューではなくてユニークユーザです。）

　もちろんアメリカにもヤフーはあるから、それを議論しないで、新聞社のWEBページだけでみればアメリカの方がインターネット上でブランドを築いているのでしょうか。日本の場合は、トラフィックを新聞社のページに集めてきて、その上で広告収入でがんばっているようにみえますね・・・。
