　前回、初めて海外に行った事について書きました。本当に散々だったのです。もちろん、その後日本に帰ってきて思ったのは・・・。「しっかり英語を勉強しよう」。それだけでした。

　今はどうなのかよく分かりませんが。英会話の授業って高かったんです。記憶では年間50万円は最低でもかかると、、、（違ったのかな？）

　レベル的には外人が何を言っているのか分からない。。。耳をいきなり慣らすと良いなんて本とか説もありますが、それはおいらよりもレベルの高い話でしたね。まず最初は英単語を覚えるつもりで、必死によく使われる言い回しを覚えました。単語は簡単で、聞き取れても意味が分からない事ってあるんですよね。今でも記憶に残っているのが、

How come you are here?

　さっぱり意味が分かりませんでした・・。思わず「How come?」って、聞き返したら、「Yap! 」って帰ってくるし。う～ん。（答えは、how come = why なんですけどね。）

　当時、通勤電車の中でも気軽に読めるので、こんな本で覚えました。

　なかなか良かったです。本当に。但し、英語でメールをお客様とか取引先に書くだけの場合、あまり意味をなさないかもしれませんが。会話には持ってこいです。おいらはこれである程度の単語と言い回しを覚えました。本のサイズも小さいので、通勤電車とかに最適。ランチの時も場所をとらなくて便利です。

　大事なのは、読むだけでは無くて、ひたすら覚えてしまうこと。単語を組み替えるだけでいろいろな場面で使えますので、とにかく覚えただけ便利です。
